Pagham Beach
Exposed shingle shoreline with scattered bungalows and panoramic sea views
The coastal strip south of the village, where residential roads give way to shingle beach and the open Channel. Pagham Beach is a working shoreline rather than a resort beach. The shingle is steep and the sea can be rough, with no promenade, no lifeguards and no commercial development along the front. A scattering of bungalows and houses sit behind the beach, some with views directly out to sea. Coastal erosion is an ongoing concern here, with properties occasionally threatened by the retreating shoreline. The beach is popular with dog walkers and those who prefer a quiet stretch of coast over the busier resorts at Bognor Regis or Littlehampton. Sea kale, yellow horned poppy and other shingle plants grow along the beach in summer. The area has a raw, exposed character, shaped by wind and tide.
