Lagoon Area
Low-lying ground near the harbour with open views, lagoon and nature reserve access
The low-lying ground between Pagham village and the harbour, including the area around the lagoon and the fields that border the nature reserve. This part of Pagham is characterised by open views, flat terrain and a strong sense of proximity to the water. Some residential properties line the roads leading towards the harbour, but the area is less built-up than other parts of the parish. The lagoon itself is a shallow body of brackish water that attracts wading birds and wildfowl. Footpaths cross the area, providing access to the harbour walks and the nature reserve. The landscape is influenced by the tidal harbour, and flooding is a periodic concern during high spring tides and storm surges. The area has a wild, open quality that distinguishes it from the more domesticated parts of the village.
