Church Barton
Quiet residential area near the church with mature trees and older properties
A small residential area close to the church, taking its name from the historical barton (farmyard) associated with the ecclesiastical estate. Church Barton is a quiet, leafy part of Pagham with a mix of older properties and some more recent development. The proximity to St Thomas a Becket Church gives the area a village-centre feel, though it is largely residential. Mature trees and hedgerows screen many of the properties, and the lanes are narrow enough to discourage through traffic. The area is within walking distance of The Lamb Inn and the village hall, and footpaths from here lead south towards the beach and east towards the harbour. Church Barton represents the quieter, more settled side of Pagham, away from the busier roads and the newer estates.
